Research Topics-E-nose
Our laboratory is dedicated to the development of intelligent electronic nose systems that emulate the human sense of smell. In the emerging era of Physical AI, technologies that reproduce human sensory functions are essential for enabling machines to perceive, understand, and interact with the physical world. However, compared with vision, hearing, and touch, olfaction has received relatively limited attention, leaving significant opportunities for innovation. We aim to develop next-generation E-Nose platforms that integrate sensing, memory, processing, and inference functions within a single intelligent system. By combining bio-inspired sensor design, advanced functional materials, neuromorphic device concepts, and artificial intelligence, our research seeks to realize E-Nose systems capable of detecting complex chemical environments and making meaningful decisions based on olfactory information. Through this work, we envision intelligent olfactory technologies that can support diverse applications such as disease diagnosis, environmental surveillance, food and beverage analysis, industrial safety, robotics, and human-centered AI systems.
